- Mary was born in 1871 in Westwell. She was baptised on 28 April 1872 in St Mary's Church, Westwell.
In 1881 Mary was living with her parents and siblings at Dean Court, Westwell.
In 1891 Mary was a General Domestic Servant in the household of Caroline Barnes at 57 Preston Street, Faversham.
The Banns were read for the marriage of Ernest Boakes and Mary Vant, Bachelor and Spinster, both of the Parish on July 12th, 19th and 26th at St Mary of Charity Church in Faversham. This was followed by the marriage on 2 August.
Mary married Ernest Boakes in 1891 at St Mary of Charity Church in Faversham. Ernest was 22, Bachelor, Labourer of Abbey Place, 5 Abbey Street, Faversham, his father was John Boakes, Labourer. Mary was 21, Spinster of 57 Preston Street, Faversham, her father was Edward Vant, Game Keeper.Married after Banns. Witnesses were John Boakes and Maria Hansted.
Their son, John was born in 1895.
Ernest died in 1896 in Challock.
On 13 November 1897 Mary married John Johnson at St Mary of Charity Church, Faversham,. John was 36, bachelor, Labourer of Abbey Street, his father was John Johnson, Labourer Deceased. Mary was 27, a widow of 5 Abbey Place, her father was Edward Vant GameKeeper. Married after Banns. Witnesses were W Barton and A Barton made her mark.
In 1901 Mary and John were living at Ranscomb, Cuxton, Kent with Mary's son, John Boakes, 6. The family had a visitor on census night, late Ernest's sister, Agnes Boakes, 29 a General Domestic Servant.
In 1911 John & Mary were living at The Waggon & Horses, Westwell with son John Boakes, 15 a Mole Catcher. The family had a boarder Henry Samson, 65 a Woodcutter.
