News: Until early 2021 I had two main Kent Trees, one centered around Westwell near Ashford and the other around Lower Halstow near Sittingbourne. I have always been convinced that they were joined in some way, but just could not find that link. The two trees are now one large tree.

      • John Salmon was born in 1833 in Stonegrave, Yorkshire.

        In 1841 John was living with his Parents and siblings, ?William 11, Martha 5 & Ann 3, at Stonegrave.

        In 1851 John was an Apprentice Tailor living in the household of Robert Smailes a Tailor and Draper of Slingsby, Yorkshire.

        In 1861 John was a lodger in the household of William Salmon, 62, a Tailor at 63 Theobold Road, Holborn, London. William was John's future father in law.

        John married Emily Hannah Salmon on 13 April 1867 at St George the Martyr, Queens Square, Camden. The couple were living at 62 Theobalds Road, Camden. John was a Tailor, his father, also John, was a Bootmaker. Emily's father William Salmon was a Tailor. The witnesses were William Salmon and Maria Louisa Pugh.

        In 1878 John was entered in the UK, Poll Books and Electoral Registers, 1538-1893. Poll year 1878. Parish - St Andrew Holborn, Above The Bars, and St George The Martyr, Middlesex.

        In 1881 John had retired as a Tailor and was living with Emily at Lodge Garden, Oulston Hall, Easingwood, Yorkshire.

        In 1891 John & Emily were living at Uppleby in Stonegrave, Yorkshire and they have a servant, Mary Ellen Poulter, 16.

        In 1901 John was a widow living in Easingwold, Yorkshire with his Housekeeper, Elizabeth Thornton, 64.

        John died on 27 July 1903 in Easingwold, Yorkshire aged 70.
